It's not only the banks who are into pseudovariety these days. As I was browsing through that wonderful site, Visual Complexity, I ran into an image that looks like a work by a Japanese contemporary artist. However, a closer look at the cluster diagram of Philip Howard and Chris Duvall revealed the not so surprising fact that three firms control 89% of the U.S. soft drink business. Such a lovely bubbly diagram about products that are basically nothing but water and sweeteners. Variety is supposed to be the spice of life, but I think perhaps they're overdoing it here! Reminds me of my daughters' amazement on first seeing an aisle-full of hundreds of salad dressings on one of their trips to the States.
